We examine and treat primarily dogs and cats with some exotics, mostly fur bearing animals and some birds and reptiles. With being an AAHA regulated hospital, we are held to higher standards of care. Each and every patient is important to us and we take the time needed to diagnose, and explain the treatment options to our clients. We make it a priority to stay current with the latest treatments and vaccine protocols.
Dr. Barry Parks and Dr. Tyler Gallaher are the surgeons at Hopkins Road Animal Hospital. Dr. Barry Parks has many years of experience and has taken continuing education classes and labs on multiple surgery procedures. He has a special interest in eye surgeries, Cruciate surgeries and Patella Luxation surgeries. He has performed many foreign body and bladder stone surgeries as well. Dr. Tyler Gallaher is a more recent graduate, but has performed many advanced surgeries and he is continuing to learn and advance his skills.
We are very fortunate to have digital radiography (X-ray) and Ultrasound machines to help us diagnose and treat many diseases that may get overlooked without them.
We are able to perform in house bloodwork diagnostics as well as send out samples for more complex or specific panels. Since our patients are not able to tell us how they feel or where they hurt, imaging and blood panels give us a great amount of information to diagnose and treat our patients successfully.
We have a Class IV Laser which has been a great addition to our treatment modalities for infection, tissue healing and osteoarthritis. We have seen so many patients benefit from laser treatments that we recommend it for all surgical procedures and arthritic joints. It is nice to have a way to help alleviate joint pain without medications that can be harsh on the liver and kidneys, especially with older patients.
We provide dental cleanings and treatment plans to help each patient remove the tartar present and try to prevent it form returning. Dental disease is so prevalent in our patients that 90% or more have dental tartar and resulting gum inflammation and/or infection from the tartar. We provide dental discounts throughout the year when dentals are scheduled within a specific time frame from the dental exam.
Your staff saved our puppy’s life and we could not be more grateful! We are so thankful to have found such a loving knowledgeable & compassionate staff to care for our little guy!
Thank you for making Finnlee’s first visit to you guys wonderful! We look forward to coming back and seeing you all!!
I owned a Pomeranian for 12 years until it’s untimely death in 2009. During the entire time, Hopkins Road kept it vaccinated and maintained its health, always professionally and courteously. In 2010, I replaced my Pom with an 8 week old Shih Tzu. They guided me through her care and vaccines the first 6 months and treated her during these visits like she was their only “patient”. We now added a second Shih Tzu to the family October of 2012. I just wish to say that the doctors and staff are wonderful and caring and we appreciate you taking care of our “girls”. They have both been spayed at Hopkins Road with no complications and very speedy recovery. God Bless you and your staff!
Dr.B truly has a love for animals and each one of his patients. He is not the type of Dr/vet to rush you, your concerns really matter and he does everything to make sure you leave with all questions and concerns taken care of! We just lost our amazing dog of 14 year’s yesterday and he called to check on us this morning before they even opened. That is VERY rare these day’s!
I have been fortunate to find such terrific vets. Everyone here is very knowledgeable, friendly and genuinely care about my pets. Thanks so much for what you do. My only suggestion is it would be wonderful if you had someone on call for emergencies for after hours and weekends. it is very difficult to take our beloved animals to complete strangers. i know it’s difficult with family.
The doctors and staff of my vet are very helpful and friendly. Both of the doctors get to know their patients and it’s nice to be recognized when you walk in the door. They’re also really accommodating and will mail your medicines or work you in when you need to see the vet.
Dr Parks was absolutely wonderful. My 14 yo Shetland Sheepdog had a growth that was potentially cancerous. The initial visit I found the office staff to be friendly and kind. Dr. Parks and his assistant Vet Tech Lauren were exceptionally warm and welcoming to both of my Shelties. He gave her a thorough exam, and kept her anxiety to a minimum. He explained everything in detail. The staff gave me a quote, and the actual cost was lower than anticipated. He removed a growth from her lip and closed the wound with the mastery of a cosmetic surgeon. These folks are a true blessing.
The entire office staff and vets are just wonderful, so caring and concerned. I have never had a more dedicated vet in all the years that I have owned pets. Dr Ashley and Dr Barry are the best.
We’ve been taking our pets to Dr Parks for years. Always receive excellent care.
Dr.’s A & B are superb with our pets and with our concerns for them. We have two Shetland Sheepdogs and two cats. Prior to having this pair of Shelties, we were brought to the time when we had to “put down” our beloved Sheltie, Sadie. She was 13 and was having her second fight with cancer. I was a total mess. But Dr. A gave us all the time we could handle with Sadie. She cried with us, hugged us and even sent us a white rose, which we pressed in a book and still keep 10 years after Sadies passing. They are are a real blessing to my wife, our pets and me.
They have been caring for all our pets for over 20 years. We really like the care they offer.
Great people, great care, truly concerned about you companion animals. A little high on cost but worth it.
They are a caring group people that i trust fully with my dog. I started going to them after watching them with my mothers dog.
By far the best Vet I have been to. The owner will get down in the floor with my Great Dane just to cut her nails and everyone here is just great to deal with. I have never had a problem and would give this place more than 5 stars if I could.
Best Vet ever! I wouldn’t take my babies anywhere else! They truly treat my animals like they are apart of their family as well! Very honest, knowledgeable, and compassionate!
I like all the vets and most importantly, they like my dog. The receptionists are very nice and helpful. All the vet assistants treat you & your pet with kindness and caring. I’d recommend this Veterinary Clinic.
I can’t seem to ever remember our Vets name but my wife and I have had nothing but great experiences there with our two cats.
Amazing staff!! Incredibly courteous when I had to have my loving old cat put to rest. Even followed up with some flowers delivered to our house afterwards. This will be the only place I go for our pet’s needs!
The Park’s take great care of our pup.
Have taken our dogs here last 20 years, convenient and friendly doctors and staff
I have had experienced nothing short of exceptional service and care from the vets and staff at Hopkins Road Animal Hospital. My boy Walker (rottweiler) absolutely loves going here and they take care of him like he is part of the family. I am quick to recommend them to anyone needing a local vet or boarding kennel.
Friendly staff. Great service. No complaints.
I’m a wildlife rehabber, meaning I get in lots of orphaned and injured wild animals that I keep until they’re old enough and/or healthy enough to go free. There are three vets in my town and this is the only one that will help wildlife. I think that says a lot about the doctor’s love for all animals.
They are absolutely wonderful! Piper has always been a little hard to handle and they do such a great job with her! We love Dr. Gallaher he’s always been so informative and willing to answer all of the ridiculous questions I’ve asked. I won’t trust anyone else with my girl!
Always kind and loving. The entire staff is that way. Very knowledgeable. Best place I’ve ever been for animal care.
The people at Hopkins Vet are awesome! They are very attentive, loving and very caring people of your pet, even when you bring your pet home they still call you to check on them as well as you. There’s no other place I would take my Paws(my dog) to.
Took my cat here after he had gotten outside and was attacked by another animal. The wait wasn’t long, all the staff was super friendly, and his vet and her assistant worked quick to help out my friend! He is already doing much better within hours and eating again! Thank you so much 🙂
Great veterinarians. I have taken my two dogs there ever since my family adopted them from an animal rescue. They have walk-in hours from 9-11am and 2-4pm, so getting an appointment isn’t necessary. They keep comprehensive records on their patients, which is great because both of my dogs have some chronic health issues, and the vet’s are able to quickly look back at what has and hasn’t worked in the past. The entire staff is friendly and caring, with many recognising my pet’s and I on sight.
I love the vets here. They take very good care of your pets. This is the go to place for all your vet care needs. The staff are very friendly. They listen to all you concerns. And you pet will get excellent care. I would like to thank all the vets and staff for wonderful care for my pets. Thank you so much.
Thank you for all you did for me, everyone was wonderful & just wished I had found you before.
This is our first dog. So far experience has been good.
My sister-in-law brought my cat to you on Wed. 5-10-2017 to be put to sleep. When they got there, she had passed away. She said that you took her back and checked her. Everyone was so nice and caring. I would recommend you highly to anyone who needs a vet. Thank you for the beautiful white long stem rose, it made my day.
Excellent front desk staff. Kennedy was also so pleasant and helpful. Wonderful first experience for Bishop (my dog) and me! Thank you for everything!
They were all very helpful with our dog. Thank you to all that were involved. They also accepted payment plan and from a non-profit organization.
We are so pleased & Skeeter is recovering nicely!
John, Lynn & Skeeter F.
Helen was very helpful and gave great info. Dr. Ashley Parks finally a veterinarian who asks other health and info questions about our pet other than what I was here for. Gave lots of great info – very thorough. Found a home here!
You come highly recommended from Hart 2 Heart Rescue Friends. Dr. A (Ashley) and staff couldn’t have been more friendly and caring to our Chewy. He is much better. Thank you for all you do!
Scott & Sandy
Very impressed with Dr. Ashley Parks attention to my dog’s issue.
I loved how she (Dr. Ashley Parks) got down on the floor with my dog to keep her more comfortable.
We had been going to another vet for over 20 years years – We had gotten very high recommendations from friends and a neighbor who have used Hopkins Road Animal Hospital – After getting a new dog, we thought we would like to take her to your business – Very glad we did! Thank you for all you do for our furry family members!
I have to say I was very impressed with our 1st appt. Michelle was so trusting and friendly with my dog. (other places have not been) Dr. Gallaher was very compassionate and took the extra time needed to evaluate my girl and make friends with her, which is hard to do. It means so much to have found a vet team that we can trust and feel comfortable with! Thank you!
Excellent service from both assistants & Dr. Gallaher! Thank you for caring for our puppy as if he was your own!!
